She took her phone from her pocket and tapped the screen twice.

“What are you doing?” Grant snapped.

“I am initiating the emergency audit of the Holloway holding accounts,” Margaret said.

“You have no authority to do that without a board vote,” Grant said.

“Under section twelve, the trustee has sole authority to freeze accounts during a suspected misappropriation of family funds,” Margaret said.

“Using corporate funds to pay for personal divorce lawyers constitutes misappropriation.”

Grant laughed, but it sounded forced.

“My personal accounts are untouched,” he said.

“We will see,” Margaret said.

Vanessa’s phone chimed with a sharp, high-pitched alert.

She looked down at the screen, her smile instantly vanishing.

“Grant,” Vanessa said, her voice shaking slightly.

“What is it?” Grant asked.

“The corporate credit lines,” she whispered. “They just flagged a security hold.”

“That’s impossible,” Grant said.

He pulled his own phone from his pocket.

A series of red notification banners began to cascade down his screen.

Outside, a black town car pulled up to the curb.

Two men in dark suits got out, looking through the glass doors toward Grant.
