“We have enough to secure arrest warrants for both Patricia and Courtney Parker,” he said.

“Charges will include domestic abuse, unlawful restraint, and withholding medical care.”

“What about Ethan?” my father asked from the window.

“He will be questioned regarding his complicity,” Harris said.

“But right now, the primary targets are the mother and sister.”

“We are sending officers to the Pine Street residence to execute the warrants immediately.”

He stood up and packed his notepad into his folder.

“Keep your security detail tight here,” Harris added, looking at my father.

“We will,” my father said.

After the detective left, the room fell into a heavy silence.

I leaned my head back against the pillow, feeling the physical exhaustion of reliving those moments.

My father stood up and walked to the side of my bed.

“You did well, Hannah,” he said, placing his warm hand over mine.

“They are going to pay for what they did to you.”

“I just want Owen to be safe,” I said.

“He is safe,” my father promised. “I’ve personally spoken to the hospital security chief.”
