An Army Colonel Fights to Save His Daughter from a Dangerous Family Conspiracy
“You can’t do that,” Ethan said, his face turning pale. “I haven’t been charged with anything.”
“Not yet,” my father said. “But the conspiracy charges are being drafted as we speak. This phone call will ensure you don’t even get to see the outside of the nursery.”
My father walked a few steps away, his voice dropping to a low, commanding murmur as someone answered his call.
I stood there, looking at the man I had married.
He looked small under the harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital hallway.
“How could you do this, Ethan?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
“You did this to us, Hannah,” he said, his voice dripping with venom. “You destroyed our family because you couldn’t handle a little pressure.”
“They starved me,” I said. “They kept me from my baby.”
“They were doing what was necessary,” he said.
He took a step toward me, but Detective Miller instantly placed a hand on his chest.
“Back up, Mr. Parker,” Miller said.
Ethan looked at the detective’s hand, then at me.
“This isn’t over,” Ethan whispered. “You think your father can protect you forever?”
