“Have them meet me at the South loading dock,” I said. “And Vance, tell them to bring sidearms.”
I ended the call and slipped the phone back into my holster.
I looked at Emily, whose face was still pale, but a small spark of hope had returned to her eyes.
“We are going to a safe house on the base,” I told her.
“They can’t touch you there. It’s federal property.”
“What about Ethan?” she asked, her voice cracking. “He has keys to our apartment. He has everything.”
“Let him try to walk past an armed sentry,” I said.
I turned back to Dr. Reeves.
“I need you to clear her chart for immediate transport,” I said.
“If anyone asks, you are transferring her to a specialized trauma unit.”
Reeves nodded quickly, his hand reaching for the door handle.
“I’ll go to my office and input the order now,” he said.
