“We have the ledger from the cellar.”

“We know about the offshore accounts.”

Vanessa let out a sharp, nervous laugh.

“You don’t have anything that will stick in court,” she said.

“I am a licensed attorney.”

“Everything I did was legal representation.”

“Using my name to launder five million dollars isn’t legal representation,” I said.

“And we have the transfer slips to prove it.”

Vanessa’s gaze flicked to the paper shredder, then back to us.

“You think you can just walk in here and ruin me?” she asked.

“I have friends in high places, Dante.”

“People who will make sure this disappears.”

“Your friends are already erasing you from their payrolls,” Dante said.

He took a step forward, his presence filling the room.

“You have five minutes to tell me where the rest of the funds are.”

“Or what?” Vanessa sneered.

“Or I let the police find you with the evidence of your own fraud,” Dante said.

“And I will make sure the prison you go to is not a comfortable one.”

Vanessa’s hand slowly moved toward the desk drawer behind her.
