He looked directly at me, his hazel eyes bright with an emotion that made my throat tighten.

A soft murmur of agreement rippled through the crowd of doctors, donors, and nurses.

My cheeks flushed warm, and I pressed my hands together to keep them from shaking.
“Victoria Sullivan,” Daniel said, his voice softening as he spoke my name to the entire room.

The applause erupted again, louder this time, filling the vast atrium of the new wing.
Several of my colleagues patted my shoulders and smiled at me, but my eyes never left Daniel.
